Empress shows are about competition and measuring your improvement for year to year. One of the ways to measure your progress and herd improvement is to show a few of some of your best animals each year. Another important component of Empress shows is the competitive camaraderie with your peers. Many producers will tell you that they have formed lifelong friendships with their fellow chinchilla producers. This was an unexpected huge plus about getting into the chinchilla business. Competing in Empress Chinchilla Shows has greatly improved the quality of the animal as well. Chinchillas of yesterday were small wedge-shaped loosely furred animals. Today’s chinchilla is a large, robust, densely furred animal with bright eyes. Empress Shows have played a role in this progress.
